MEET THE RED WAGON THERAPY TEAM
Jean Taylor
Jean Taylor, PT, DPT graduated from the University of Kansas with her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Physical Therapy. She continued her education earning her clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Colorado in Denver. She has over fifteen years of experience as a pediatric physical therapist serving children and their families through Early Intervention and the public schools in Denver and Chicago.
Jean owns and operates Red Wagon Therapy, provides pediatric physical therapy services and is part of the inclusion team at Fisher Early Learning Center. She loves to spend time in the great outdoors skiing, sailing, golfing, and gardening.
Karyn Weakliem
Karyn Weakliem, OTR, has been practicing as a pediatric OT for over 15 years. She is part of the Red Wagon Therapy team, works for DPS and has her degree in holistic medicine in Acupuncture. She has experience in fine motor, developmental motor, sensory integration as well as feeding therapy.
Karyn lives in the Central Park neighborhood with her three daughters and provided services in the NE Denver area, Stapleton, Lowry, Park Hill, Montbello and NW Aurora.
TOM O’MALLEY
Tom O’Malley, MA, CCC-SLP received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Arizona in Tucson before he knew what he wanted to do with his life (not that he knows now, but who really does). After a ‘finding yourself period,’ he motivated and retuned to graduate school at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he received his Master of Arts degree in communication disorders. After graduation, he had a brief career in the NICU as a developmental therapist working with newborns and their families on feeding skills. For the past 20 years, Tom has been working as a speech-language pathologist providing early intervention services for children birth to three in Denver County. In addition, he also works with older school- aged children from kindergarten to middle school. Tom is passionate about meeting children where they are and helping them reach their potential by following their lead. He is PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Motor Targets) certified.
After many years of working in the community and seeing all the different ways preschools operate in Denver, Tom shares his time at Fisher Early Learning Center, Early Intervention and Red Wagon Therapy. Outside of his work as a community-based speech therapist, he loves to ski and race his bicycle and watch his 2 sons do all of the amazing things that they do everyday.
COREY PARINI
Corey Parini, MS, OTR is a graduate of Columbia University’s Occupational Therapy Master of Science program in New York, NY. She has been working in Colorado as a pediatric occupational therapist since 2010. She shares her time working at Denver University’s Fisher Early Learning Center and Red Wagon Therapy. She has experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, learning disabilities, fine motor and handwriting difficulties, and developmental delay. She works with children of all ages and diverse backgrounds, including Spanish-speaking families. Corey is a Handwriting Without Tears certified handwriting therapist and works with Letter Leaders handwriting program as well. She has a playful therapeutic style and a client-centered approach that promotes a child’s motivation to achieve goals and improve areas of weakness.
Corey has worked with the Vail adaptive ski program and lives in Denver with her husband two kids and two dogs.
KATe Levy
Kate Levy, MA, CCC-SLP graduated from the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) and went on to get her master's degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Northern Colorado. She started her career serving elementary students in Vermont and continued working with Denver Public School students when she and her family moved back to Colorado. Since joining the Red Wagon team, Kate has enjoyed the addition of Early Intervention clients and their families to her caseload!
Kate and her husband spend as much time as they can in the mountains with their young daughter and 2 dogs. You can frequently spot her, trying to keep up with them, on the trails, running, biking or skiing.
nicole kenney
Nicole Kenney, M.S., CCC-SLP, originally from Rochester, NY, studied at SUNY Geneseo for her Bachelor’s degree. She got her Master’s degree at Nazareth College. She is currently working in the Aurora Public Schools three days a week and also provides early intervention through the Colorado Home Intervention Program (CHIP) to deaf and hard of hearing children. Nicole is fluent in American Sign Language.
Alex banning
Alexandria Banning, ECSE, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University in 2018. She recently graduated from the University of Denver with her master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. Alexandria has worked in schools and different community programs for children with disabilities. Alexandria shares her time working with preschool aged students and birth to three children.
Alexandria lives in Denver with her dog Tucker. Alexandria enjoys cooking, skiing, traveling, and yoga sculpt.
Hanna Ullrich
Hanna Ullrich, ECSE, graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Special Education Generalist degree. While she began teaching in an elementary school, she worked on her Masters degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Upon graduation, she made the move to work in Denver Public Schools ECE programs. Throughout the past 8 years in ECSE, she has worked in many of the DPS elementary schools at some point, and recently took some time away to be home with her young kids.
Hanna, her husband and two young kids, spend much time being the typical Colorado family. They love to ski, golf, hike and spend time in the mountains. They also love to travel and can frequently be found near a beach.
Mela Carter
Mela Carter, ECSE, specializes in early intervention, working closely with children and families navigating developmental challenges. With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education, Mela’s approach is centered around helping families better understand their children’s unique needs. Her play-based methods encourage emotional, cognitive, and physical growth while creating space for joy and connection. Mela’s passion for this work led her to author a book on the subject, further empowering families to foster healthy development and communication. In addition to her work in early childhood, Mela has a somatic bodywork and dance therapy practice. As a mom of three amazing kids and a Great Dane, she stays active by enjoying nature, running, biking, and dancing.
Laurel Cardenas
Laurel Cardenas, ECSE, is a recent grad from DU’s Early Childhood Special Education master’s program. She is currently a first year teacher at Fletcher Miller School in their integrated preschool classroom, serving both typically developing children and those with significant support needs. She loves early childhood in general but especially enjoys working with kids ages 3-5. Laurel works behind the scenes at RWT, supporting with billing and scheduling.
She lives in Denver with her spouse and dogs. She enjoys getting outside, making art, cooking, and watching hockey.
